Trip to Hampi
Hampi is about 150 kilometers from Bangalore, the most convenient way to reach there is by coming to Bangalore and then taking a night train to Hospet which is the town 4 km from Hampi. If you want an in depth explanation about Hampi, please go here.
But if you want to know the real hampi..read on…
When my dad said we all (by all, it meant a dreaded family trip) are going to Hampi for 4 days, i was a little bit excited., cause what i knew of Hampi was that it was where the ruins of Vijaynagar was. Okay, if you dont know what Vijaynagar is, please join a CBSE syllabus school and read it in your history books for 5 years (Its one of the greatest Kingdoms in India, more so of the entire history of the earth)
So i packed my bags (Contents of Bag: Underwear, shirt, underwear, jeans, sports shoes, underwear and lots of Sunscreen). The train journey was fine.
Then we reached Hospet station, and this is what i have to tell you: If you are not from another country, no auto or guide will even look at you..if they do, they will charge you 50 bucks only for getting into the auto, traveling fare is a whole different story…
We made reservations at Hotel Priyadarshini, and got prepared to see Hampi.
There are three ways of seeing Hampi:
1) Hire a Taxi: The taxi will cost 1000 rupees for a day, and they pretty much cover Hampi (about 34 square kilometers) in one day. A good option.
2)Hire a Auto: The auto guy will charge you from 150 per head to god knows what. They pretty much do the same thing as the taxi, except they are much slower and will probably bargain with you at the end of the Journey
3)Hire a bike: The best option, take a bus to Hampi (7 km), hire a bike, scooter or cycle, and then see Hampi. This is recommended after seeing the whole place in an taxi or auto first, and then the second day, see and explore Hampi at your own pace with these scooters.
I cant describe how magnificent and colossul the place is, you need to see it for yourself. There are gates, temples, palaces the size of Rome over there..Some museums too..

This place is the perfect place for photography, even if your horrible at taking pictures, any picture you take here will look amazing ( But my pictures are really good).
Okay , i didn’t mention about the food, because unfortunately, i wasn’t keeping well, and the doctor advised me not to have any outside food..
Also, What i noticed was that this place had the most number of foreign visitors i have EVER seen so far for a place..Amazing. Because of this, be prepared to be fooled with outrageous prices for everything..(transportation,food,clothes etc..)

Should you go to Hampi with your family? HELL no!, Should you go with your friends on a bike ? Definitely.
