I cant believe that this song has been hiding from me for all this time.. I found out about it when one day the jobless people in my class (a certain girl..) was playing these really annoying boy band songs on her phone, when she played this..And i was like..”WHAT THE $!@)!”…I immediately asked her who played it and she said “Plain White Tees”…and i am like “What is that?”..she is like its a band..
I went home, downloaded it and just fell in love. Literally, i still haven’t got bored of this simple song. I managed to learn it, and haven’t stopped playing it since..As you know, if you read my blog, we also played it at the MCC French Fest..(Click here).
I recently decided to go to a studio and record it and use it in my portfolio..But was wondering if i am singing it well enough to spend the money..So i recorded it home using my ordinary mic and put it here, and would love to hear what you think about it!
As promised, i attended the St Josephs fest, ‘Visagas 09“.
Finally a fest which had amazing stage events and other off stage activities. For the first time i actually sat down and concentrated on the various stage events such as Solo singing, Dance,etc..
Awesome stuff..but sadly i was really disappointed as there were hardly any hot girls at the event (my friend who studies there, said that all the hot chicks were their on Saturday (21st feb) yaaa right!).
Anywho, the food at the fest was okay (much better than the food at the Christ fest). And i must say that if you can come and watch the stage events for two days you should , as only the best of the best come and perform (the rest get ruthlessly Booed off stage!).
Since i went on a Sunday, the crowd was pretty less (i dont know why, they might be selling free Red Bull somewhere i guess), and reactions to the goof ups at stage were pretty controlled.
The funny thing was, there were more “Guys” at the event than girls. (Damn!).
The fest is definitely worth going for, dont forget to bring your college Id’s and a pair of binoculars.
Okay, the title was a bit too much..But this project has been the most interesting so far, mainly because this is the first time i am making a film for someone else. A friend of mine from a film making college asked me to make a film for him, i obliged since i anyway was trying to psych myself up to make a short film after What would you do? Episode V (ya ya i know it sucked).
First of all, the idea for the story was gifted to me by almighty god himself by a simple sms from my cousin, with the title “7 Things done during study holidays”…
I picked it up and wrote a screenplay. Soon after which, Getting a camera was a problem..I tried asking many of my friends but couldn’t get my hands on them ( I am so glad that my friends are kind enough to gimme their cameras even though i don’t remember their names..).
But thankfully Sid was ready to help. I don’t know how, but inherently Sid is good at Camera work (maybe because he understands what the director wants from him…or maybe because he drinks Red Bull).
Abraham and me sat during college hours and made a very detailed storyboard (drawing out scene by scene of a movie on paper). We liked it, we also did Shot division (writing and planning the shots on paper).
Finally, Akshay offered to take “on location” pictures for the tutorial i am releasing soon..We started shooting on a Saturday morning..ended up shooting for 7 hours straight, and not once did anyone complain (at least when i was facing them). even though we took so much time, it was the most time efficient shooting i have ever had!
Finally editng took 9 hours, but conversion took the same time! Dammit! But i like the end result, and hope you guys like it too..we had a lot of fun shooting and we hope..OH WHAT CRAP..Watch the film.
One word of advice: When they mean french fest, they MEAN everything is in french..As you know, i am a big lover of college fests, and i couldn’t resist going to the French Fest FRANCO FEEL at Mount Carmel College. The news came to me, when my friends told me there’s an invitation from MCC , i immediately called up MCC, where i spoke to The very friendly French teacher who told me that we could perform a song..
My friends, one senior and me practiced “hey there Delilah” by plain white tees and were pretty confident.Once we reached Mount Carmel College (which was on Friday the 13th by the way), we had the following shocks:
Every college HAS to participate in “MASCOT” , where we have to speak only in french.(we weren’t aware of this).
You cant perform a song in English, it has to be only in French.
But, nothing..i mean nothing can stop me from having fun…So we immediately started making up a skit ( we called up our friends from college for additional actors and most of my classmates came to support us..i know, my friends rock!) and performed it front of the judges . (we also learned a few sentences in french).
The crowd loved us (obviously), but we werent eligeble for a prize (because we did not know french…ahem..)
Second, our song…We spoke to the teacher and she said that we can perform our song, but it will not be considered for the prize…
Who cares? we came to have a good fun time, not to win prizes…We played Hey there Delilah (the girls loved it, by the way did i mention that mount Carmel college is an all girls college??).
We had a small suprise at the end of the song, where we sang the chorus in french (again the chicks went crazy)..
After our stellar performance, we were asked to come back, and we performed a song i wrote called “Muskan”..
Again, the chicks liked it (i just dont understand why…hmm…)..
After that, we left home with fond memories and lots of phone numbers…
Next time, we are planning to go for their huge college fest “Kala”, and hopefully return for the french fest (we will learn some french, I SWEAR!).
I was just scrolling through youtube, and i came across this. A video from www.ted.com ,this is the description i found:
“EDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes”
This particular video is about a 18 minute talk by Elizabeth Gilbert (author of the bestselling book “ “Eat, Pray, Love”"), who shares her insidght about What creativity means to her..
Honestly, we all somewhere consider ourselves to be creative, i believe i am creative..but can you explain or even talk about it in a logical way…?
After watching this talk, you will defineltly get an insight about creativity..about a part of yourself..nice stuff.
